Daily P&L Lock for Prop Traders: Realized Boundaries, Browser Friction
Updated 2026-09-27 ยท 7 min read ยท Commercial investigation
Quick answer
A daily P&L lock is simple on purpose. You pick realized profit and loss boundaries. When Tradovate realized P&L crosses them, your trading page gets friction. If you're still in a position, you get a warning first. Once flat, the lock applies.

That is the whole feature. No AI. No broker API. No "guaranteed" funding outcomes. Just a Chrome-level stop that matches how prop futures traders actually blow days: by keeping the page clickable after the number they promised themselves.
If you have ever said "I'll stop at X" and then negotiated with X in real time, this page is for you.
Why realized P&L (not feelings, not open P&L theater)
Open P&L flickers. It can look like a win while you're one tick from a scratch, or like a disaster while you're managing a planned runner. Realized P&L is the score after the trade is done. Prop risk conversations โ daily loss limits, personal stops, giveback targets โ usually need a realized anchor or you will negotiate with every tick.
Tilt Blocker's Daily P&L lock is built on configurable Tradovate realized profit/loss boundaries. You set them to your personal plan (often tighter than the firm's published daily loss limit). The extension enforces page lock behavior around those boundaries.
That distinction matters. Firm daily loss limits are a compliance ceiling. Your personal realized lock is a behavioral ceiling. Blowups often happen in the gap between them โ still "allowed," already stupid. Firm rule education lives here: daily loss limit prop firm. Giveback pain: green day giveback prevention. Second-click pain: second bad trade prop firm.
Warn-if-open, lock-when-flat
Traders fear a lock that traps them in a live position with no way to manage it. The 0.5.0 behavior is explicit:
- Boundary hit while a position is open โ warning first.
- Once you are flat โ page lock applies.
You stay responsible for flattening. The lock is not an order action. Tilt Blocker does not place, change, delay, or cancel orders. It does not hold broker credentials. It does not "panic flatten" for you. If someone sold you that story elsewhere, it is not this product.
Where it sits among the five blockers
Daily P&L lock is one of five browser blockers in Tilt Blocker by FundedReady:
- Daily P&L lock (this page)
- Trading-window lock โ weekdays + Chicago open/close; optional U.S. holiday block
- RTH opening pause โ 1/5/15 min controls lock; charts visible; countdown
- Settings lock โ after first detected Tradovate execution, settings blocked for Chicago trade date
- Prop-firm purchase site lock โ during configured RTH, block supported prop-firm account-purchase sites

How to choose boundaries without kidding yourself
Loss boundary: Start from the firm's daily loss limit, then set a personal realized stop inside it. Leave a little buffer for the messy reality of fills โ but do not leave "revenge room." Revenge room is how personal stops become fiction.
Profit boundary: Pick a number that still feels like a full day when you're calm on Sunday. If you only respect targets that are huge, you will never lock. Green days die from moving targets: green day giveback prevention.
Two-loss alignment: If you run a two-loss rule, size so two full losers land near your realized loss lock โ see two-loss rule trading.
Challenge vs funded: On a challenge, traders often set looser personal locks "to give themselves room to pass." That is how overtrading eats challenges: how to pass prop firm challenge without overtrading. On funded, trailing drawdown makes giveback and revenge more expensive over days, not just hours: stop blowing funded accounts.
Do not treat the lock as a performance coach or session-goal product. It is a boundary enforcer. No diary receipts feature, no green-lock branding gimmick, no trade-cap counter beyond what realized P&L boundaries already imply.
A day-in-the-life walkthrough
06:30 CT โ You set realized loss at your personal stop and realized profit at your walk-away number. Settings are configured before any order.
RTH open โ Optional opening pause runs so you do not donate the first minutes: RTH opening pause futures.
First execution โ Settings lock can freeze settings for the Chicago trade date so you do not "fix" risk after a scratch: settings lock after first trade.
Mid-morning โ You hit the profit boundary on realized. Warning if still in a trade; lock when flat. Afternoon entertainment is cancelled by the page, not by a promise.
Or: you hit the loss boundary. Same mechanic. The second bad trade does not get a clean runway: second bad trade prop firm.
Off-window โ Trading-window lock already limited which hours were armed: trading hours lock Chicago RTH.
Sync vs local lock state
Protection settings can sync across licensed Chrome installs. Active daily lock state stays local per Chrome profile. If you trade on two machines, configure settings once and sync โ but understand that whether today's lock has already fired is profile-local. Ops: multi-monitor Chrome tilt blocker. Category framing: Chrome extension trading discipline.
Pairing with other friction and education
What we do not claim
No profit promises. No pass-rate promises. No payout promises. No firm endorsements. No "AI detects revenge" scoring. No broker integration. Daily P&L lock is friction on realized boundaries โ full stop.
Worked example (illustrative numbers only)
Firm daily loss limit: $1,000. You set personal realized loss lock at $500. Personal profit lock at $400. Size so two full losers โ $500.
Morning: +$420 realized, flat. Lock engages. Afternoon entertainment cancelled.
Alternate morning: โ$480 realized after two losers, flat. Lock engages. The third "sure thing" does not get a clean runway.
These numbers are not recommendations. They show the shape. Use your firm rules and your journal.
Fees and messy fills
Realized P&L includes the ugly stuff. If you set locks that assume perfect fills, you will feel cheated. Build a little honesty buffer without building revenge room.
Disabling the lock mid-day
If you retain the ability to disable in heat, decide now whether that ability belongs in your process. Some traders treat disable as a Sunday-only admin action. Whatever you choose, be explicit โ unspoken exceptions become the whole system.

Session template
- Set a realized loss boundary and a realized profit boundary before the open.
- If a position is still open when a boundary hits, expect a warning first.
- Once you are flat, let the page lock apply. The lock does not flatten the position for you.
Mistakes to avoid
- Using the firm daily loss limit as your first stop.
- Expecting Daily P&L lock to place, change, delay, or cancel orders.
- Treating the lock as a session-goal coach, diary, or revenge-scoring product.
